Here we go again! Second round of reading a different chapter or article every day for 30 days. The first time I did this, I found it incredibly difficult to be that disciplined every day to sit myself down and read. You’d think as a PhD student it would be second nature. Wrong. I think with the teaching responsibilities I have alongside the various mini projects I’ve got on the go, coupled with the financial pressure I’m under – reading, unfortunately, ended up last on the list of to-dos. Those 30 days made me realise, retrospectively, that I’ve been investing a lot of time and energy on tasks related to being a researcher than actually doing any research that contributes directly towards my thesis. A tricky balance that I’m not sure I’ve managed, yet.
And so this second round will, perhaps, enable me to become more disciplined in taking control of my time.
If you’re interested in joining me at any point, please say hello!
